No time for losers...

So you're probably wondering after we ended Round 1 neck and neck, who would take Round 2.

You mean you haven't thought of it once????

Fine. Be that way. No, no. I get it. You apparently have better things to do then keep up on this family's spring break smack down.

Well....since you didn't ask, I think I'll go ahead and tell you anyway...

Actually, I'll give you 7 clues (it actually really bothers me that it's not 5 or 10) as to who the victor was. You ready?

You may have recalled that I was planning on pulling out the big guns and unearthing the Playdough. It's quite possible I was suffering from momentary insanity when I put that in writing for all to see, but I quietly shushed that little voice that kept trying to remind me of it, pretty effectively, I think.

We did, however...

1) Make that trip to Costco. And I think I can safely say it's a win-win situation when mama's pantry and fridge are full, as well as my growing children's tummies. Yes, that also includes the hubby.

2) We already have documented the fun that was had on Indoor Fort Day. So, no reason for me to beat a dead horse. Who would actually do that anyway??!!

3) Surprise! Daddy took Thursday and Friday off. So Thursday he was able to go with us and Mimi to the Children's Museum and then on Friday I got him mostly all to myself!

4) Some serious fun was had at the Children's Museum.

Where some seriously cute siblings did some...

serious swinging,

serious "exploring" of "dinosaur bones",

serious climbing,

serious 3 story high sliding,

serious goofing off,

serious seriousness,

serious shopping,

serious bubble blowing...or eating, whatever the case may be,

seriously big bubbles,

And some really cool, hand-halfway-through-a-bubble-without-popping-it trick. Weird, huh?

5) Papa and Mimi survived having the kids for 2 days and 1 night. I think. :)

6) Ok, so we didn't make the homemade granola bars, BUT I did make another hot breakfast. And if you ask my kids, anytime breakfast is something other than cold cereal it's a slight miracle. One of my goals is to slowly wean my kids off of the addiction called "non-nutritious" cereal and start making a hot and healthy breakfast...hopefully every morning. Will this actually require me to be awake???

It is a splendid thing, though, when one homemade, good-for-your-body breakfast lasts two mornings. And since it was yummy and easy, I thought I would share the wealth... and yes, it need's slight "tweeking" to be really healthy.

Fruity Baked Oatmeal
From Simple & Delicious

INGREDIENTS
3 cups quick-cooking oats
1 cup Dark Brown Sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 eggs, lightly beaten
1 cup fat-free milk
1/2 cup butter, melted
3/4 cup chopped peeled tart apple
1/3 cup chopped fresh or frozen peaches
1/3 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
Additional fat-free milk, optional

DIRECTIONS
In a large bowl, combine the oats, brown sugar, baking powder, salt and cinnamon. Combine the eggs, milk and butter; add to the dry ingredients. Stir in the apple, peaches and blueberries. Pour into an 8-in. square baking dish coated with cooking spray. Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 35-40 minutes or until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean. Cut into squares. Serve with milk if desired.

7) And we most definitely DID make it to the library, where my new book worm of a son checked out EVERY available Magic Treehouse book and other various titles for the other young ones. And he then proceeded to read at the rate of 1 book an hour. Another slight miracle would be that when asked if he would like to watch a cartoon or read his book...he chose book. No, I'm NOT kidding. It just warms a fellow book worm's/mother's heart.

Again with the Teenwolf, I know. Because, as it turns out, when you turn 7, you all of a sudden have an opinion on your hair style. And he wants it longer. But, yes, I've put off the "trim" for far too long...

So, the really long answer to the question that you never really asked...

WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS, MY FRIENDS....:)

------------------------------------------------

In other news, after conquering "The Cleaning of the Dining Table", I was inspired to tackle the ominous kitchen junk counter next. Another high and lofty goal I had for myself this last week.

Nothing says, "Welcome Friends!" like a glamorous counter top like this one. What? You don't think so? I'm actually a little ashamed to even show this side of me... The rest of my house doesn't look like this! Truly!
Ok. Fine. Is this a little better? Lots of bananas, because I have a banana lovin' little Monster...

Bet you didn't think that such precious cuteness could be on that cluttered counter did you? Well, here's the proof to show that there IS life behind the bread. I was at the outlet on the other side of town. I needed to stock up.

Wow! I'm so glad this post is done. And I'm sure you are too.

So in the words of another bloggin' friend...

Have a nice day.

Your baked oatmeal looks delicious.

Love the pics from the childrens museum...the bubbles and the shopping cart ones make me smile.

Congrats on that clean countertop!

And I LOVE the bread outlet, but I forget to go there b/c it's so far away! I need to add that to my list of things to do next time I head south.

Hope your day is NICE.

I spent six minutes studying that clean cabinet photo and trying to make out what the little black cube said. SIX. And then I gave up and kept scrolling. Thank you for the next picture that saved me from an OCD moment and having to send an email.

That's a lot of bread, sweetheart. Maybe it's just that I'm craving bread right now and all I have is a bag full of green mold. Do you have humidity problems in the PNW? I should imagine so. Maybe that's why you have a lovely bread keeper.

Can you tell I'm chatty today? Sorry for the novel.

I actually was wondering how your tournament played out. I knew you'd win! You all won!! :)

I don't know your phone number, but I am guessing you have mine as it's in the RCC phone book. Could you call me so we could talk about the cleanse idea? I think that would be easier then emailing. Plus, I haven't talked to you in months!

The book "Sleep on it" prepare delicious meals the night before that you can pop in the oven the next day!" by Carol Gordon might be helpful for your breakfast change. I didn't see it in your library system, but maybe you can get an interlibrary loan. I know it is in the washington county system. The author runs a B&B.
