Eating ladybugs may be harmful to your health hearing

News flash:
Eating live ladybugs does not appear to be deadly or harmful to your health, at least not in the first 5 hours. I'll keep you posted on any long term side effects if they appear. Other than the damaged eardrums caused by the Scream Heard 'Round The World, of course.

Background:
Emma's been catching many a gnat (The "g". It's silent. Reference to VeggieTales, in case you were wondering.), ant, ladybug, and other unidentifiable bug in her new "bug home" from Sonic. Well, the night previous she had caught round 2. And I guess she forgot that her sweet and innocent (ahem) little brother must have one eye kept on him at all times, because she left said ladybug unattended for an hour a millisecond.

Play by play:
Emma: Scream Heard 'Round The World!!!!!!!!!! HE ATE MY LADYBUG!! EEEEKKKKK!! AAAHHHH!!!! WAAAHHHHH!!!!!! MY LEG'S BEING GNAWED OFF BY A GIANT HAIRY POISONOUS TARANTULA!!!!!! (OK, she didn't really say that last part, but if you had only heard her wails you may have assumed it was happening.)

Mama: (dashes in to see what the heck is going on, does a sweep of Lincoln's mouth, sees Lincoln holding an open and empty "bug home") Yup. He sure did. Yucky, Lincoln!

Emma: (Sobbing, wailing, gnashing of teeth) My ladybug is DEEEEAD!!!

Mama: Yes, he is. And he's in Lincoln's tummy now. Lovely. C'mon, Lincoln, let's go eat breakfast...part 2.

Mama: (With all the sympathy I can muster...because I'm positive that this isn't the last time something like this will happen.) I'm sorry Emma. How about from now on you keep your "bug home" outside and out of Lincoln's mouth reach. K?

Never a dull moment...

I'm just glad Linc's breakfast wasn't the little scallywag ladybugs she caught "fighting" a week or so ago...

Haha...he's just getting a little extra protein in, I guess. Bugs are a delicacy in some cultures. ;-)

Yummy. At least Linc eats cute bugs. He could have eaten a fruit fly.

Tate saw flies "fighting" today. All I said was, "Yes, they are."

Good times.

What's worse than finding a ladybug in your kid's mouth?

Half a lady bug.

Ugh.

That does beat all.

I once discovered a girl I was babysitting holding HALF of a slug. Hmm.

Ladybugs might not look so bad now.

However, send Emma my regards. It's hard enough to loose a pet...

Blech.

I'm thinking it was a crunchy ladybug.

I think and pray we're past the bug eating phase of childhood around here.

Unless it makes a comeback during the "I Dare You" stages. Please, no.

You look for every chance you can to rub the fact that YOU have a Sonic in my face, don't you? ;)

LOL! Ew! That is pretty gross, but really funny too! I'm glad it didn't do him any harm!

Oh, I'm only LOL because our one year old recently ate a boxelder bug the other day. I was soooo disgusted but our boys thought it was hilarious.
